Iguanas are an invasive species in South Florida, most commonly the green iguana, and they have become a serious nuisance for homeowners and businesses. They thrive in warm climates and are often found near canals, seawalls, pools, and landscaped yards. Iguanas cause extensive damage by digging burrows that weaken seawalls, foundations, sidewalks, and driveways, and they destroy lawns, gardens, and ornamental plants while feeding. Their droppings can create sanitation issues and may carry salmonella, posing health risks to people and pets. Because iguanas reproduce quickly, have few natural predators, and are protected from poisoning, professional removal is often the most effective way to control their population and prevent ongoing property damage in South Florida.
